While all is apparently quiet on the 'frontier,' along the North Platte River, why is it that a body of prospectors cannot be gotten together and the Laramie Peak country thoroughly prospected this fall? There are a number of first class mineral stories, some of them a dozen years old, in relation to mines of wealth, buried thereabouts. Miners have been deterred in times past from prospecting there from the fear that they might be buried there too, in their prospect holes. The Indian has lurked about that famous peak from time immemorial, but of late has taken himself away to other fields, to wit: the Red Cloud and Spotted Tail Agencies. So the military expedition to Powder River argues, and who dare gainsay it.

The weather is fine for prospecting, and a party of twenty or more would be sufficient to protect themselves against any stray Indians that might possibly be found there. Besides, it is a delightful region, and well worth a visit.

If there are any waiting for the abrogation of the sixteenth article of the Sioux treaty, by Congress, they will have ample time to visit and prospect the Laramie Peak country before Congress will act. The distance is about eighty-five miles from Cheyenne, and a good road to travel over leads to it.
