Full Text

On Thursday week a gentleman near Liberty town, in this state, had a child, two months old, put into his arms, in rather a novel manner. He was walking with an umbrella over his head, when a woman with a child in her arms begged him to protect her from the rain a few minutes; pretending she had been travelling, and was exhausted, he also consented to carry the child a few paces, when she stopped to adjust some part of her dress, and gave him the slip, leaving the infant for the gentleman to provide for as he could.—Balt.
