Sunday evening last, William Rogers, late master of the sloop Betsey, was brought to town and lodged in goal; and on Monday was examined before John S. Dart and Pet. Bounetheau, Esq'rs. concerning the murder of Mr. Nathan. This unhappy wretch did not deny his having been concerned in that barbarous transaction: he confessed having struck the first blow, and said he administered to the other two, and received from them an oath of secrecy. He declared he had left Mr. Nathan's trunk, containing money to the amount of two hundred dollars, at the house of William Harrigan, in Unity Alley, and that the money was there when he quitted the house. He also said he delivered Mr. Nathan's gold watch in pledge to one Stokes, and that he had not since received the same.
