The Senate was called to order by the Hon. Bela P. Spalding, he being the senior member present. Hon. Ichabod Bulkley was chosen President pro. tem. and Franklin H. Merriman, Esq. appointed Clerk. Subsequently His Honor, Ebenezer Stoddard, Lieut. Governor elect. was conducted into the Senate Chamber, the oath of office administered to him, and he took the Chair.

The House of Representatives was called to order by Elizur Wightman, Esq. of Milford. Stillman K. Wightman, Esq. of Middletown, was declared to be elected Speaker, and on taking the Chair addressed the House.
John C. Palmer, Esq. of East Haddam, was elected Clerk of the House; and Lewis Hyde, Esq. of Norwich, Assistant Clerk.
Resolutions, appointing Joseph Hollister and Asa Crowell, Messengers, and Emmons Rudge, door keeper of the House, severally adopted.
Messrs. Raymond of Bethlem, and Sterling of Sharon, were appointed a committee to wait on the Senate, and inform them the House was organized and ready to proceed to business.
The usual committee was appointed to canvass the votes for State Officers, and some other unimportant business transacted.
