A middle aged man, from Worcester, Mass., calling himself J. F. Walker, but supposed to be C. A. Spencer, allowed himself to be tempted into a strange house on Reade street, New York, Sunday afternoon, when he should have been at church, and was very much fascinated by a girl calling herself Anne Mead. When he went back to his hotel he was astonished to find his pocket book and $1540 missing. He appealed to the police, and the girl and the landlady of the house were arrested, and all but $60 of the money recovered.
