Franklinton, August 2.

Gen. Tupper arrived here on Saturday evening on his way to Galla.—The General informs us that the object of his returning is to organize the militia which are to supply the place of the troops lately ordered to Upper Sandusky to serve 40 days from the 4th instant, as mentioned in our last. We understand that orders have been given to draft two men from the 1st, 3d, 4th and 5th divisions. This draft, we presume is by requisition of General Harrison upon the Governor.

Governor Meigs is still at Upper Sandusky with the militia. We have not learnt to a certainty whether he has accepted Gen. Harrison's invitation to take command of the Ohio troops in person.

Gov. Shelby, it is certain, will command the 2d Kentuckyans, who are to rendezvous at Georgetown on Monday next.

Capt. Nelson's company of mounted men from this county returned to this place on Sunday, and were discharged by col. Hendrick, to whom they had been attached; with credit for a full tour of duty.

General Harrison and several of his officers have visited commodore Perry's fleet at Sandusky bay. About 400 boaters were sent on board the fleet by the general at the request of the commodore. We understand the fleet has since sailed in the direction of Malden. The British frigate built at Malden during the last year, is on the Lake; but report says her guns are made of wood, which we entirely discredit. An action may be shortly expected, which will decide the command of the lake.
