DA GAMA'S ESCAPE. Portuguese Sailors Made No Effort to Detain Him.

Buenos Ayres, April 9.-The insurgent Admiral Da Gama made his escape from the Portuguese warship Mendillo at 2.15 p. m. yesterday and arrived at Buenos Ayres quarantine station last evening. The Portuguese sailors made no resistance to his leaving the warship. The people of the Argentine Republic are generally rejoicing over the escape of Da Gama and reports of Mello's successes at Rio Grande de Sul. These reports are not altogether trustworthy.
