The Job That Jarrett Didn't Get.

Washington, August 16.--It is now reported that the gentleman to whom the President will issue the commission as chief of the bureau of labor statistics is Mr. Thos. B. Connery, formerly editorial manager of the New York Herald. The relations between Mr. Arthur and Mr. Connery are of long standing, and have in the past been very intimate. Mr. Connery, about ten years ago, was interested in organizing an investigation into the cause of the depression of labor, and is said to have given much attention to the labor problem.
