A Mistaken Policy.
Argentina has abolished work for all of the people in the country, native or foreigner, who have to their credit twenty-five years of labor in any capacity, either for themselves or others.
That might appeal to some folks in Rush county, but that such a government policy is a mistake is readily apparent.
Anything that takes away the need for individual initiative is dangerous. Laying up a competency for old age is the goal of every self-respecting citizen.
Remove the need for ambition to get ahead, and an indolent race is sure to be the result.
A people dependent upon the government will never have any glorious achievement to its credit.
We may have our oil scandals now and then, but we can at least keep our self respect by not looking forward to being a ward of the government in our old age.—Ex.
