Jan. 20. Amongst many new and extraordinary projects in France for recruiting their army, one is the obliging the Convents, of which there are said to be fifteen thousand, to furnish one, two, or three men, according to their respective revenues; which are to be raised, and maintained too, till such time as they join their respective corps. at the expence of these communities; but it is foreseen, that this proposal will meet with a violent opposition from the body of the clergy, and all that are attached to them.
