THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 24, 1921
Thirty days, then Santa Claus.
A touch of winter was felt the past week.
Mr. P. B. Fagin of Trio was in Kingstree yesterday.
The Hon. S. A. Graham of Heineman was noted in Kingstree Tuesday day.
Many a "noble bird" that graces the table today was the pride of the roost yesterday.
Mr. W. C. Claiborne, who has been confined to his bed for several weeks is reported to be improving.
Margaret Allen, little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Stackley is quite ill, we are sorry to announce.
Mr. W. H. Carr, who has been quite ill for some time is getting along very nicely, we are pleased to report.
Miss Marian McFadden has been on the sick list this week. We are glad to learn that she is improving.
Mrs. Spencer LeGette and little daughter, Ethel of Camp Dix, New Jersey, are visiting Mrs. R. K. Wallace.
Mrs. M. F. Montgomery, who has been very much indisposed the past week or ten days is reported to be improving.
Mr. Furman Williamson of Cades Rt. 1, was in town yesterday getting ready for Thanksgiving by laying in some supplies.
The school children, by attending school last Saturday to make up for the extra day, have holiday from Wednesday until Monday.
Mr. W. I. Nexsen and family have returned to Kingstree from Asheville, N. C. They will spend the winter here as usual, at their home near town.
Recent rains have increased the flow of water in Black river within the past week. The water in this stream had gotten to the lowest point on record.
The Pageant given at the Presbyterian church Sunday night by the ladies of the Home Mission society was greatly enjoyed by a large congregation.
While we feel quite certain that many a Bob White will be killed and maimed today, we are hopeful that casualties to the human race will be negligible.
Miss Mary Nettles of Denmark is spending Thanksgiving here with her sister, Mrs. M. A. Shuler. She has with her little Miss Mary Brown, a relative of the family.
We regret to announce the very sudden death a few days ago of one of the little grand-daughters of Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Sexton. The little one was a daughter of Mrs. Mitchum.
Mrs. W. G. Gamble has returned from the D. A. R. Conference held in Charleston last week. While there she was the guest of Mesdames L. B. Naylor, John Kershaw and W. H. Seibing.
Mr. Fred P. Wolfel of New Canaan, Conn., arrived in Kingstree yesterday for his annual visit to "Deacon" John Burgess. While in town Mr. Burgess and his guests called at the Record office.
Clerk of Court J. D. Britton has recently had built on the courthouse yard a very neat little squirrel house in which he has placed several of the cunning little animals to attract the attention of admirers.
Mrs. Geo. R. Grist and her three children left Kingstree Tuesday for Charleston to join her husband who holds a position there in one of the printing establishments. They will take up their residence there.
Mr. H. J. McKenzie has moved into the Swann house at the corner of Academy and Mill streets. Mr. Watson, who formerly occupied this residence has moved his family to Georgetown where he has employment.
Messrs Archie Wilkins, McBride McFadden, Jim Hinds and Eugene King motored over to Columbia yesterday to attend the Thanksgiving football game. McFadden and King attended the Columbia College reception Wednesday night.
Mr. F. V. Shelton, member of the campaign committee of the Tobacco Growers' Co-operative association was in Kingstree yesterday in the interest of the work in this county. He will be one of the speakers to visit the county next Thursday, December 5th.
