Summary of Intelligence.

CONGRESS.

Thursday, Feb. 6.-In the Senate, the chair communicated a report from the Treasury department, containing additional statements relative to the deposite banks, with copies of their charters. The special order of the day being called for, Mr. Chambers moved the bill relating to French spoliations be taken up, that it might be the order of the day for the 19th; but the motion being out of order, Mr Wilkins addressed the Senate in support of the removal of the deposites until the hour of adjournment.

In the House, the Committee on Commerce, on motion of Mr Adams, were instructed to consider the expediency of making Dorchester a port of delivery. Mr Chambers addressed the House on the subject of the pension laws, until the expiration of the hour allotted to resolutions. Mr Peyton of Tennessee concluded his remarks in favor of the removal of the deposites, and was succeeded by Mr Wise of Va. on the other side.

Friday, Feb. 7.-In the Senate, the resolution, extending the time for the payment of revenue bonds, was taken up, and after discussion, was laid upon the table. On motion of Mr Webster, the Committee on Finance was instructed to inquire into the probable effect of the present state of commercial affairs on the revenue of the U. S. The Senate then adjourned to Monday.

In the House, the report of the Commissioners of the Sinking Fund was presented by the Chair. The discussion of the subject of the pension law, was resumed, but not concluded. The House, by vote of 111 to 103, receded from its amendment to the appropriation bill. A motion to adjourn to Monday was rejected, and the House adjourned.

Saturday, Feb. 8.-The Senate did not sit. The House went into a committee of the whole, on a bill for the classification of revolutionary claims, prescribing the fundamental rules by which they are to be settled, and referring them, under such rules, to the Secretary of the Treasury for settlement.

Tuesday, Feb. 11.-In the Senate, Mr McKean presented a memorial from ten thousand citizens of Philadelphia, on the subject of the existing embarrassments; and moved that this memorial, together with a letter which he had received from a committee, be referred to the Committee on Finance. After some debate, the motion was adopted.

During the presentation of other memorials on the same subject, the death of Mr Bouldin, of the House of Representatives, was announced by Mr Preston, and the Senate adjourned.

In the House, the committee of ways and means reported a bill, proposing to give to the Secretary of War all authority in regard to the payment of pensions. The deposite question coming up as the order of the day, Mr Bouldin of Va. rose to address the House; but after a few observations, swooned, and in a few minutes after, expired. The House immediately adjourned.

Wednesday, Feb. 12. In the Senate, Mr Chambers presented the memorial of a meeting, held in Baltimore, on the subject of the currency and the existing pecuniary distress.

Thursday, Feb. 13.-No business was done in either house; the Congress and the Heads of Department having agreed to attend the funeral of Mr Bouldin this day.
