Milford is only about one hundred years old, while Lewes dates back to 1620. The town of Georgetown had no existence at the time of the Revolutionary war. Its site was a Tory encampment in the early part of the war which the Whigs captured and dispersed, confiscating forty barrels of Johnnycake!
One hundred years ago Church Hill, a couple of miles west of Milford, was the place of worship for all the country around about where Milford now stands. The English church stood there.
