Under this head the whig "Organ Grinder," of the city of New York, the "Courier and Enquirer," publishes a most ridiculous falsehood in relation to the Oregon Question, and which is taken up by all the federal echoes throughout the country, in which the President and Secretary of State are most shamefully abused, the Senate and our Minister to London most grossly misrepresented. It states in the first place that the Senate have accepted a boundary line much lower down than England would contend for, and at a lower latitude, than they were advised by our Minister could be obtained. All this is falsehood—we have gained a large tract of territory that was always claimed by England, all that country lying between the Columbia river and the latitude of 49. The story about Mr. McLane is all untrue. All the slanders about the President, the Secretary of State, and the Senate, are equally without foundation. The President put the whole subject before the Senate at his own option, when he could if he chose, have kept it to himself, and perfected the treaty, before submitting it for confirmation to that body.

The New York 'Courier and Enquirer' spreads falsehoods about the Oregon Question, claiming the Senate accepted an inferior boundary line against advice from Minister McLane, abusing the President and others; the article refutes this, stating the US gained territory between the Columbia River and 49th parallel, and praises the President's transparency with the Senate.
