FATAL ACCIDENT.—Yesterday morning, Wm. Brosnihan, age eleven years, son of Thomas Brosnihan, laborer, residing in Franklin street, came to his death under very distressing circumstances. In payment of some chores done by him at Hapgood's stable, on Saturday, he was promised a ride upon horseback, before school time on Monday, and at about half past seven was furnished with a high spirited horse, the property of J. S. Hill, which is kept at the stable. While passing through Pine Meadow, the horse became frightened by the 10 o'clock train, the track of which runs nearly parallel with Pine street, and dashed forward with such speed, that the boy was unable to control him, and he was thrown violently upon the ground, at the intersection of the old and new Pine Meadow roads, the horse's hoofs striking him as he passed on, with such force as to tear the flesh almost entirely from one thigh. He also received a severe contusion upon the head. Dr. B. Heywood was immediately called, but surgical skill was of no avail; the boy lingered in a state of unconsciousness until yesterday morning, when he expired, making the seventh son in a family of eight, that the afflicted parents have been called to lay in the dust.
