Fair Issues a Circular Letter
The following circular letter has just been issued by Mrs. James A. Kirk, chairman of club work of the woman's department of the fair:
It is the earnest desire of the department of club work of the Woman's Board, Alabama state fair, to enlist the enthusiastic co-operation of every club in the state to make this exhibit the most interesting in the woman's department, comprising as it will the year-books of the various clubs, badges, club colors, etc.; books and articles written by Alabamians, anything in the possession of any club, that might add interest and prestige to this exhibit, making it stand for woman's progress, in the fields of organization, of self-culture, and of that higher altruism, which can only be attained under the broadening influence of a common interest.
This department will award two prizes, one a handsome set of books, for the best club calendar, or year-book, and the other -which has not yet been decided- for the best paper, the subject of which will be announced at an early date. Every club in the state, whether federated or not, is invited to enter these competitions. If there are any clubs in your city, which do not belong to the federation, will you kindly write me of them, giving names of presidents, that we may communicate with them? It is requested that the Woman's club of Birmingham be allowed to retain all year-books, literary works, everything that will be sent to this exhibit. In cases where this is not possible, mention of the fact will insure careful return of articles to owners.
MRS. JAMES A. KIRK,
Director Club Work Woman's Department.
