Four groups, who previously called themselves 'Masons,' will no longer be able to do this in the State of Connecticut due to a decision handed down by Judge Otto Lamacchi of the Common Pleas Court enjoining them from using the name, signs or insignia of Masonry in the State of Connecticut and placing a fine of $5,000.00 in the event that any of them disobey the injunction against them.
The four groups are the International Masons, headed by Dr. M. V. Banks of Detroit; the King Solomon Grand Lodge; the King David Lodge and the Israel Lodge. All of these called themselves "Masons." Judge Lamacchi called them "splinter groups," causing confusion and deception upon the general public.
Suit had been brought against them by Prince Hall Masons who were represented by Mr. George W. Crawford, corporation counsel of New Haven, Conn., and Sovereign Grand Commander of the Supreme Council, Northern Jurisdiction, Prince Hall Masons.
White Masons of Connecticut represented by two Past Grand Masters, testified in court on the side of Prince Hall Masons.
The Clandestine Committee of Prince Hall Masons is reported making preparations to proceed in many states where these clandestine groups are said to exist. Only this month, claims were made that the International Masons were operating a booth at the National Baptist Convention in New Orleans, seeking, according to their literature "agents" to organize lodge and chapters for them.
