Mrs. Helen White Moore, who has been a member of the faculty of the Laboratory School of the School of Education at Atlanta University for the past seven years, resigned from her position this week to accept a new post as reading specialist in the elementary schools in Phoenix, Arizona.
Mrs. Moore, who has a host of friends in Atlanta, accepted her new post reluctantly as her work during the regular and summer sessions at Atlanta University has been most enjoyable. Her decision, however, came about because of her intensive interest in the field of reading and because of her feeling that there was a greater opportunity for service in the schools of Phoenix.
A native of Fort Worth, Texas, and a former teacher in the public schools of that city, Mrs. Moore is a graduate of Morris Brown College. She has thirty hours of graduate credit in education at Atlanta University, and has studied three summers at the University of California, Los Angeles. Her study at U. C. L. A. has all been done in the field of reading.
Before accepting the Atlanta University post, Mrs. Moore was the teacher of a demonstration center in DeKalb County, Georgia.
