Expedition against the Pirates.

Capt. Porter, who has recently been appointed to command the expedition just authorized by Congress for the suppression of Piracy in the West-India seas,—has acted with great promptitude and energy. He left Washington and went to Baltimore on Thursday evening of last week, and almost before it was known in that city that he had arrived, he made a purchase of a whole squadron of eight small vessels, which he sent off to Norfolk, under Lt. Newell. He immediately proceeded North in search of a suitable steam-vessel. Orders have been received on this station, to enlist men to proceed under Capt. Porter to the West-Indies.
