This is a subject we have been hammering upon, until we are heartily tired and disgusted, and are glad to know that the Postal Agent has consented to relieve us, to some extent, of the burden of complaint, connected with the shabby, miserable and inexcusable manner in which our citizens have been treated by the Post Office Department, in the way of mail arrangements generally. Mr. Thompson has promised to do all in his power to remedy existing evils in this respect, and bring to the notice of the department a proper statement of our wants; and as he has the reputation of being a most prompt and energetic officer—(as we know him to be in all respects deserving and trustworthy)—we have confidence that his mission will be attended with beneficial results, in view of the object for which it was made. This is the first official visit of the kind this portion of the country has ever had, either before or since the organization of the Territory. For proceedings of a public meeting connected with this subject, see another column.
