Armed Forces Day
Set For May 16

The tenth Armed Forces Day will be observed throughout Alaska on May 16, 1959.

Open house will be held on several military installations located in various parts of the state.

This observance will be the first opportunity since statehood was achieved for the Services to present a comprehensive view of current weapons to the public.

"I urge all of our Alaskan neighbors to join us on Armed Forces Day so that all may acquaint themselves with our ability to protect ourselves and to preserve our cherished freedoms," stated Lt. Gen. Frank A. Armstrong, Commander in Chief, Alaska.
