Full Text

We commend the following item to "a prominent citizen" and ask him if such firemen are not deserving of at least a modicum of credit.

Up to midnight last night Will and Lester Snyder and E. A. and George Sanders, members of No. 2 company, were at work at the hose house, thawing out the frozen hose and getting it into shape for use.

One of the men was on duty all the night, keeping up a fire to dry the hose. Were it not that there was no hose to substitute for that on the cart No. 1's men would have been engaged in the same employment. The boys ask no compensation for this severe work, doing it from a feeling of duty and responsibility.

Members of No. 2 company, including Will and Lester Snyder and E. A. and George Sanders, worked up to midnight and through the night thawing frozen hose and keeping a fire to dry it, without compensation, out of duty and responsibility. No. 1's men would have done the same if possible.
