Cigars to Order.

There is a cigarmaker in town who has an entirely new idea. His business is so small at present that an extremely small store is quite large enough for him, but if his idea meets with the success it deserves he will soon have to move. A big sign in front of his store states that cigars are made to order, and that satisfaction is guaranteed in every case. This assertion is bold enough to attract the attention of every old smoker, and there is a seductiveness about it sufficiently strong to induce investigation. A hopeful man who ventured into the store on Thursday told the black-eyed proprietor that he wanted a cigar made of clear Havana, both as to filler and wrapper. He wanted it strong and green. The proprietor asked him to wait a minute while he made one for him to try, and soon the cigar was ready. 'I give you that,' said the proprietor. 'Take it home and smoke it after dinner or when you want a smoke bad. It will cost $7 a hundred.' The customer had been paying $15 a hundred for his cigars, and the surprise which he felt at the time was changed to delight when he found that the sample cigar was just what he had wanted ever since he had begun to smoke. This getting measured for a cigar, so to speak, is apt to obtain a foothold here, where there are so many different tastes. Many smokers want a change of cigars as much as a change of food.-New York Sun.
