All-out effort of Lockheed Georgia Divisions employment organization to find jobs for employees laid off by the cancellation of a B-70 sub-contract at the Marietta aircraft plant has brought responses from 50 U. S. manufacturing concerns, Hugh L. Gordon, employment manager, said Friday.
Lockheed activated an "Employment in Reverse" project in coordination with the Georgia State Employment Service, when the B-70 work was halted. The nationwide job hunt for opportunities for the surplus employees is being aggressively pushed and will continued.
All laid-off workers are urged to register immediately with a Georgia State Employment Office, if they have not already done so, Gordon said.
Cooperating in the nationwide job hunt are Lockheed plants and branches in California, New York, New Jersey and elsewhere.
Approximately 30 representatives of major manufacturers, Air Force repair depots and subcontractors are evaluating the skills of production workers, technicians and engineers affected by the cancellation. Visiting company representatives, working closely with the Lockheed Employment Office, are reviewing personnel histories of engineers and the collective skills of production workers.
