"I avail myself of writing to you by mail. I send this to New Orleans in a small vessel which I have just captured. I sailed from New Orleans on the 3d inst. and shall return to port about the 1st of October. I now shape my course to the south, after two Pirates, who have been spoke, standing towards Galveston. If I come up with them, I must have one or both, or if I am unfortunate, I certainly will take my exit from this world, as these fellows will destroy me with pleasure, on account of the captain and lieutenant of that piratical schooner Bravo, which I captured in Sept. 1819, and who were executed in New Orleans."
