18-YEAR-OLDS DRAFTED HERE

Mrs. Harry Southard has been retained as registrar for the 18-year-olds that must register for the draft. The appointment was made by the Territorial Headquarters of the Selective Service System. Mrs. Southard will handle the position in her home, 611 Fourth Avenue. Cards will be forwarded to the local board in Anchorage.

Mrs Southard has also been retained as claim taker for unemployment insurance. both for veterans and other claimants in the Seward district which includes Moose Pass and Cooper's Landing.

On hand are forms both for Alaska and interstate unemployment compensation claims according to Mrs. Southard. In other words. if a claimant has earned his compensation in the states he may file his claim and collect through the local office.
