MOST DEXTEROUS HASTE.—There is no doubting the fact that progress in annihilating space is still to be made. We soon shall be within a stone's throw of the great city of New York. We saw yesterday a letter mailed at New York city on the 22d day of this month which was but forty hours in reaching this place. We shall only expect to hear of this being excelled when the great air telegraph shall be patented, and passengers may be whisked across the States in immense iron tubes with the speed of lightning.—St. Louis Intelligencer.
