The Circuit Court of Wilkinson county adjourned on the 16th ult., after a session of sixteen days. The Woodville Republican says that there were three trials for capital crimes, viz: The State vs. Billy John, for the murder of McCraine--verdict "Not Guilty." State vs. a negro, for the murder of Woods. verdict "Guilty," and sentenced to be hung on the 25th inst. State vs. Domings, for the murder of Holmes--verdict "Guilty," and sentenced to be hung on the 17th inst. His counsel have taken steps to obtain him a new trial upon some legal quibbles. Domings has been twice tried and found guilty of murder in the second degree. These cases, says the Republican, elicited much legal knowledge and ability from the counsel on both sides. The District Attorney, Mr. Martin, gave evidence in his prosecutions of superior abilities. He took at once a high stand. There was no pettifogging in anything he said or did. And in fluency of utterance we have never seen him excelled by any man at the bar.
