EARLY ESTIMATE OF CENSUS GIVES HAMMOND 40,000
One-Third of Enumerators In City Have Finished Their Work.
Practically one-third of the Hammond enumerators have completed their work and made final report to Supervisor of Census Phineas M. Kent.
The official returns have not been made public, but Mr. Kent is well satisfied with the showing already made It is impossible to make an accurate estimate of the population with even one-third of the reports in, but indications point to an enumeration of more than 40,000.
The districts which have already been completed are:
Ward 1. Precinct 6-Bounded by Hoffman. White Oak. Grand Calumet river and Calumet .
Ward 2. Precinct 7 -Bounded by Grand Calumet river. & E R R. Hohman. Russell and State Line st
Ward 5. Precinct 16-Bounded by Grand Calumet river east line of city. M.& R R. Carroll st and Calumet ave.
Ward 4. Precinct 9- Bounded by Grand Calumet river, Calumet ave M & R. R and Hohi st
Ward 5. Precinct 1-Bounded by Clinton, Oakley. Douglas. Erie R R. Carroll and Hohman st.
Ward 3. Precinct 15-Bounded by Kennedy. Calumet. Standard ave city limits and State Line st
Ward 4. Precinct 19-Bounded by C& St. I. R. R Columbia. Highland and calumet ave
All persons residing in the districts mentioned who have not been enumerated should fill out the coupon and mail it to P. M. Kent Supervisor of Census Hammond. Indiana
on January 12 I was living at address below but to the best of my knowledge I have not been enumerated there or anywhere else
