BOSTON, OCT. 23.

Branch Bank Pillar. — One of the two granite pillars for the National Branch Bank, now erecting in this city, was landed in State-street, on Thursday, in front of the building. In our last we mentioned its length as 22 feet and its weight as nineteen tons, more or less — its diameter, at the largest end is 4 feet 1 1-2 inches. The machine which conveyed it weighs five tons. It is undoubtedly the largest shaft of granite ever worked in this country. We have been informed that eight similar pillars are to be wrought for the New Market. — Statesman.
