Out Looking For Christmas Tree, Boys Find Corpse

CANTON Ga. -- The body of an unidentified white woman was discovered near Canton by two Negro boys who were looking for a Christmas tree.

Cherokee County Sheriff Hubert Wehunt said the woman, about 25 or 30 years old, had been shot to death. He sought aid from Ga. Bureau of Investigation in identifying the woman and investigating the death.

Sheriff Wehunt described the woman as having red hair, 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighing about 125 pounds. She is believed to have been dead five or six days.

A coroner's jury was expected to order an autopsy in order that the death bullet could be obtained for ballistics tests.
