Production at the Toledo plant of the Packard Motor Car Co., has been resumed since the Detroit strike situation has eased according to UAW-CIO members of the Packard executive committee.
Workers laid off because of material shortages have been recalled and work is about back to normal.
At the same time production was resumed, MESA raiding efforts were renewed by Chairman William Wisenburn head of the Packard group. Mr. Wisenburn has been rather quiet for the past several weeks, but is once more back at his usual tactics both in and out of his own union.
Afraid of Chairman
A former MESA employee of the Packard Co., related last week that the workers in Wisenburn's union are "afraid of him."
"They don't like his methods of doing business" said the former Packard workers, "but what can they do when he can have them fired for getting in his hair."
Two employees in MESA departments are fearful lest their chairman still carry out his threats of several weeks ago to fire them. One of them was called to order for wearing a UAW-CIO bowling shirt. Wisenburn has been again telling some of his assistant organizers that "there is still some cleaning to be done in our own bunch."

admit under oath that a handbill distributed by his organizers at Packard was false and misleading. Streeter under oath had to acknowledge that the MESA never sought to secure vacation checks for UAW-CIO members and had nothing whatever to do with the matter. This in the face of an MESA handbill that it was not UAW-CIO but the MESA which secured the vacation checks for Packard workers. Wisenburn has intimated rather broadly to Packard Unit members of Local 12 that "you ain't seen nothin' yet in the way of handbills," at the same time not saying anything about Streeter's admission that the MESA had not turned its hand for UAW-CIO workers. A vicious handbill is said to be prepared for distribution this week by MESA to Packard production workers. The bill said to have been written by Wisenburn, contains an attack on the Packard Committee but fails to mention anything specific. UAW-CIO members at the plant are still asking Wisenburn embarrassing questions which he refuses to answer. Meanwhile he plans on firing at least two more of his own union members.
