In superior court chambers in this city short calendar session and assignment of cases of the Windham county superior court was held Friday morning. Three cases were assigned to court for next week in Putnam: Tuesday, Balkan International Baking Co. vs. John T. Taylor; Wednesday, the T. E. Main & Sons Co. vs. W. Freeborn S. Carr; Thursday, Marjorie Potter vs. C. Allison Potter. Eight cases on the short calendar were continued, all for default or failure to plead. Answers were ordered filed by the judge within two weeks. The cases are Frank A. Philbrick vs. Evangeline C. Fuller, Emma E. Thompson vs. city of Willimantic, James L. Stice Handle Mfg. Co. vs. Windham Handle Co., Herbert L. Switzer vs. George A. Brown, Alexander Baronofski vs. Ada A. Bowen, Ralph W. Stimpson vs. Joseph E. and Alice A. Flint. In the case of Abraham Woda vs. Antonia Brown a bond of $75 was ordered by the court and an answer in three weeks. Two uncontested divorce cases were continued: Freeman E. Racine vs. Alice M. Racine and Iola F. Cook vs. Charles H. Cook.
The short calendar session was followed by naturalization cases. The roll of 23 applicants for final papers was read by the clerk of the court and 18 responded. Four were dismissed—Jerry Guimond, Donat Bernard, Paul Fregeault and Alphonse J. Tetreault—for continued absence. Jack Wollock was dismissed for claiming exemption as an alien during the World war. Cases continued for further study were William Corcari, Acte Rondeau and Hubert Arseneault. The case of Morris Golden was continued to allow the original witnesses to be present. The following were admitted to citizenship: Herman Lavoy, Hector Andrew Fournier, Calogero Insalaco, Richard Assad Haddad, Siad Addy Haddad, Abraham Krug, Helen King, Julia King, Adolph Philip Landek, Robert Zimmerman, man, Frank Russo, Philip Moore and Michael Mahowski.
A ten-minute talk to the newly admitted citizens on the responsibilities of an American citizen was given by Judge Hinman.
