PARIS, MARCH 17.
The Emperor and King has ordered the inspectors of the imperial kitchens, in future, not to use any other sugar than that of grapes.
THE IMPERIAL MARRIAGE.
The details of celebrations, and equipage, pageantry and show, in consequence of the marriage of the Emperor and Maria Louisa occupy the almost exclusive attention of the foreign Journals.
The bride set off on the 13th for Paris. Napoleon was to proceed to Compiegne on the 23rd, to wait for her arrival.
Every day new particulars transpire relative to the festivities which will take place, in consequence of the marriage of His Majesty, the Emperor. Among other games, it is said, there will be a grand tournament in the manner of our ancestors, in the Champs de Mars, in which the illustrious Empress will, with her own hands, distribute the crowns and prizes to the conquerors.
The diamond which ornaments the hilt of Bonaparte's sword is worth 13 millions of francs which is three times the value of the celebrated Orleans diamond.
The value of the jewels and nuptial ornaments which Napoleon has destined for his bride, are estimated at 18 millions of francs.
Sketch of the intended New-Empress of France: In figure she is below the middle size; gracefully formed in the neck and shoulders, with a complexion of the most delicate whiteness; a nose somewhat inclined to the Roman; eyes of the most brilliant blue, and a profusion of shining flaxen hair, that reaches nearly to the ground; her hands and feet most delicately shaped; her lips are truly Austrian; however, when opened by a smile, they discover a set of teeth, most beautifully arranged, and exquisitely white. I remember to have seen her own lovely Aunt taken from her mother in just such a transitory blaze of beauty, joyfully expecting to fill a long established throne: and afterwards I saw her all the victim to her subjects--on a scaffold!
A lady recently arrived from Paris, reports that Bonaparte has desired different architects to send him models for an obelisk, to be raised on the Place de Louis XV, where Louis XVI was guillotined, to the memory of that unfortunate monarch, and that he intends to have a general Fast observed on the anniversary of his death, and high mass to be said! ! !
