NEW YORK, October 16.

Thursday Night last arrived here by Water from Albany, his Excellency General Amherst, who had the chief command of the Forces at the Reduction of Cape Breton; and who afterwards came to Boston with a Number of Forces, which he marched over Land to Albany, where he arrived last with them the 4th Inst. all in Health.---Early on Friday Morning his Excellency's Arrival was publicly welcomed by a Discharge of the Cannon on Coply Battery, and at Night the whole City was handsomely illuminated, as the Inhabitants were very Sensible of his Excellency's Generalship in the Acquisition of Cape Breton and its Dependencies.

On Saturday Morning his Excellency crossed Long-Island Ferry, with a Design to View the Fertility of that part of this province, and afterwards to cross at New London, on his Way to Boston, thence to proceed to Halifax.---On his going off he was again saluted with a Discharge of the Cannon on Coply Battery.
