Full Text

Health of our Soldiery—We mentioned some time since, as an instance of the healthy condition of our soldiers in this 2d military department, that out of one thousand and nineteen men distributed in the different forts along our coast from Castine to New London, only one had died in the course of three months. This was incorrect. The fact is only one has died of that number in six months; and that one was of a lingering consumption. This fact does great honor to the medical Department; and is hardly to be paralleled in any country.—Yankee.
