Auto Crash Brings Manslaughter Count

BLACK RIVER FALLS, Wis.—E. A. Pearth, La Crosse school teacher, and Shirley Lea, a truck driver, faced arraignment today on charges of fourth degree manslaughter growing out of an automobile accident which was fatal Dec. 11 to Miss Marian Nash, another teacher, and Pliny Peterson, 35 years old, a farmer.

The accident occurred after Lea had parked his truck to make repairs. Miss Nash and a friend, Thora Brazer, were driving home and crashed into the truck. They sought the aid of Peterson and his brother, Price, farmers living nearby.

While the four were looking over the damage, Pearth's car crashed into them, killing Miss Nash and Pliny. A coroner's jury held that negligence of Pearth and the truck driver was responsible.
