PROVIDENCE, August 23.

Extract of a letter from Princeton, July 30.

General Howe, who had the command of the troops detached from the army to go to Philadelphia, in order to bring to condign punishment the mutineers in that city, has proceeded in apprehending and examining the principal offenders, whose trials are now going on before a court martial constituted for that purpose. Such of the three years men under his command, as shall no longer be necessary to effect the purposes for which they were detached, are to return to the army.
