Mortality at Grosse Island, Canada.—The number of deaths is really astonishing. The Medical Superintendent at Grosse Isle, published on the 24th ult., a statement of the number of deaths which had occurred on this Island from the 10th of May inclusive. The number which died in the Hospital during that period was 1,458; on board the vessels, and buried on the Island, 721; on ship-board during their passage across the Atlantic, 2,366, and in the tents on the east end of the Island where the healthy emigrants are usually landed, 27; making a total of 4,572 deaths in the space of seventy-five days. We have no official account of the number of emigrants which arrived at the Island during that period, but judging from the arrivals of the previous two months, we are led to conclude that one-fifth of the whole have been swept off by disease.
