[Special Dispatch to the Morning Journal]

Las Vegas, N. M., Dec. 10.—A brilliant event in the history of the New Mexico Normal University occurred tonight, being a reception by the board of regents and the christening of the dormitory. The first thing on the program was a 6 o'clock dinner complimentary to the governor of New Mexico, by the president of the Normal at the dormitory. At 8 o'clock on the steps of the dormitory occurred the formal christening.

Following a song "The Sighing Night Wind Whispers," and prayer by Rabbi Jacob S. Raisin, Rev. Norman Skinner delivered the address. The dedicatory service was as follows:

By the governor: In the name of the Eternal God, builder of heaven and earth, I dedicate this building as a home.

By the president of the Board of Regents: In the name of the Eternal God, builder of heaven and earth, I dedicate this home to character building.

By the president: In the name of the Eternal God, builder of heaven and earth, I dedicate the character built in this home to virtue and to truth.

By the directress: In the name of character, virtue and truth, I christen this home "La Casa de Ramona."

The benediction was then pronounced by Rev. E. C. Anderson.

At 8:15 began the evening program at the auditorium, opened by prayer by the Rev. J. S. Moore. Besides the songs, greetings from Messrs. J. E. Clark, E. McQueen Gray, W. E. Garrison and ex-President Edgar Hewitt. Prof. A. Lucero was next on the program with an address on the work of the school, after which occurred the presentation of the dormitory to the state by President Pierce, the acceptance being by Governor Mills. This part of the program closed with the singing of "America" and was followed at 9:45 by a reception and visit to "La Casa de Ramona" at 10 o'clock.
