Full Text
Fatal rencounter.—The painful necessity of recording the death of Mr. William Kerney, of Jefferson County, devolves upon us.—Gladly would we pass over the distressing event in silence, did not duty forbid it. On the 1st inst, the deceased walked from his dwelling to Ingle's Tavern, in perfect health. Soon after arriving there, a rencounter took place between himself and Mr. Vincent Moore, of the same neighborhood, in which the unfortunate Mr. Kerney was killed. Thus has a fellow creature, in full health and the prime of manhood, been cut off in an instant from society, his wife and children; and thus have the members of two families been plunged in indescribable misery.
