The Installation of the Knights of the Garter, Nine in Number at Windsor, on Thursday the 25th of July, was very brilliant, it is said that a brighter Blaze had not been kindled since the Days of old Edward the third. There was a very grand Levee. The Provision for Dinner was for one Thousand Persons. Two Waggon Load of Gold and other Plate were carried from the Jewel Office. All the King's Linnen was carried from St. James's so that there was not a Change left for the Table at St. James's. Two Waggon Load of Oil and Spice were carried from the Spicery. Five Waggons Load of China, exclusive of Glass, were carried. Lord Pomfret was appointed his Majesty's Carver at Dinner.
