Full Text

"I can call spirits from the vasty deep."

The redoubtable Mr. Widgery says in Congress; if they will only "give him the power he can raise a Company in New-England large enough to take Canada," and says "Congress need trouble their heads no more about it." Without questioning the ability or courage of the member from Cumberland, who has thus far successfully cut his way through life, to perform this feat, really, would it not be an object for Government to make a contract with the "squire," to conquer Canada BY THE JOB? Possibly the former might make a saving and the latter a handsome pecuniary-- as he is notorious for getting his work done cheap.
