Full Text

The quarrel between his Prussian Majesty and the inhabitants of the city of Dantzick originates in the latter claiming what is called the Right of Mart, and the Right of Staple. By the first they pretend that all vessels from foreign parts coming into the Vistula shall dispose of their cargoes in that city. By the latter they claim the like privilege of monopolizing the cargoes of all vessels coming down the Vistula. In consequence of this the city of Dantzick in April last fitted out a number of armed cruizers to seize the Prussian vessels that supplied the towns of Old and New Scotland, lately ceded to his Majesty, with corn, which the Dantzickers pretend must be purchased only from them. The difference between his Prussian Majesty and the city of Dantzick will probably be amicably settled by the mediation of the King of Poland, who has sent the Count Unrube to that city, in quality of Commissioner, to negotiate an accommodation.
