The Boston Traveler, of Friday, contains this statement: "During the Summer vacation there was a rapid decrease in the number of scarlet fever cases in this city, which goes to show that this disease is communicated, in a great measure, by the association of children in the schools. In September there were only sixteen cases in the city. Now that the schools are again in session, the number is increased, and fifty cases have already been reported to the Board of Health this month, three of these being returned yesterday."
