FROM WASHINGTON.—A letter from Washington, published in the Richmond Whig, makes the following statement, which we have good reason to deem exact.—[N. Y. Gaz.

"It is now conceded that all the important Committees of the House of Representatives, were constituted with a scrupulous regard to the wishes of the under Cabinet, and that the Bank Committee was arranged under the special advisement of the President himself. I speak with some confidence on the subject, as my information is derived from the best authority. But should the political caste of the Committee fail to establish the truth of the allegation, I would, with the utmost reliance, appeal to the fact, that at least twenty or thirty members of the House, in the course of twelve or fourteen hours after the passage of the resolution of the Committee of Ways and Means, beset the Executive mansion with unseemly importunities for appointments on this grand Inquisition of the Government. I could name individuals who waited upon General Jackson for the purpose: and I put it to any of the candid members of "the party" at the Capitol, whether Mr. Thomas, of Maryland, was not named by the President, as Chairman of the Committee."
