Full Text

Alarms of fire. About three o'clock, yesterday morning, an attempt was made to fire the large three story brick house, the property of Mr. Martin Smith, in Orleans, between Lewis and Aisquith streets. The fire was discovered and extinguished before it had done any damage. The stable of Mr. Lewis Barenger, on an alley, between Lewis and Aisquith streets, was also attempted to be fired, by throwing a pot of burning tar over the fence, adjoining the building. It was extinguished before the wood had ignited. We hope some of these incendiaries may be caught and meet with their just deserts.
