There are hidden dollars in poultry manure and litter. Poultry husbandmen at VPI say allowing 30 per cent loss of plant food nutrients, the poultry manure from 1,000 broilers is worth about $41 or 4c per bird (Of course, if you pile manure and litter outside in the weather, or let it be around the house too long, it wouldn't be worth much).

A mature laying hen will produce manure worth about 2c per bird during a year. The net value of manure produced in the house
