Extract of a letter from a gentleman of the first respectability, dated Trenton, N. J. Sept. 22.
—"The United States frigate, Commodore Barry, has just returned to the Delaware, with two French privateers, captured by him in the West Indies, the one a schooner of 12 guns, the other a sloop of 10. A great proportion of their crews are blacks, and most of their guns thrown overboard in chase. Although these vessels are small, they are swift sailers, and had done much mischief. They had been frequently chased by British frigates, but always escaped with ease ; so that you may judge how she sails, and how valuable a vessel she is like to be to us."
