Full Text
We had a great outcry made about a recent meeting in Floyd county, Georgia, without distinction of party, to ratify the proceedings of the Nashville Convention.
The following is the concluding paragraph of an account of the meeting, taken from a Georgia paper:
"But after all the drumming and parading which could be effected by personalities, (for it seems no person would sign the call,) such as flaming handbills with three inch letters, it being court time, a shirt-tail full were actually got together, and the thing (done up brown you are going to say—no not so fast) was most beautifully squeezed through the little end of the horn. They did not ratify or attempt to ratify the ultimatum of the Nashville Convention, but on the contrary, they dodged the whole affair by agreeing that at some future time and at some place hereafter to be fixed, they would discuss the propriety of doing so. Alas! poor Yorick!"
